"PICTURE" - A joint research/industry project

Abstract

Lars Algermissen and Thorsten Falk are PhD Students at the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) within the University of Muenster, Germany. There are involved in a joint research/industry project called "PICTURE" (see www.picture-eu.org) funded by the European Commission within the FP6, IST, E-Gov. Programme. Within the project they are facing the problem of "capturing/modeling" the overall process landscape of public administrations. The number of processes is quite high (about 1,500) and they are strongly interconnected. Therefore, they aim to develop a methodology and a tool that enables administration clerks to model their processes themselves adn this includes mechanisms to plan, coordinate and control an organization wide distribution of modeling tasks.
